Akki Poori

Poori’s are always my most favourite breakfast, no matter which poori it maybe.

when I been to India this time my mom made this yummy poori for breakfast, it was delicious and healthy, so I thought of sharing this recipe here.


  1. 2 cup rice flour
  2. Half cup grated coconut
  3. 1tsp ghee
  4. 1 small onion
  5. 1tsp red chilli powder
  6. 4 to 6 green chillies
  7. 1tsp cumin seeds
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Turmeric Powder 1tsp
  10. Water as need or 1/4 cup
  11. Oil for deep fly


In a mixer grinder add onion chopped roughly, coconut, salt , green chillies,red chilli powder with little amount of water, and make a fine paste.

In a big bowl take rice flour, add turmeric powder and ghee and mix it well.

Now add masala paste and mix well, add little little water, mix it medium hard dough just like akki Rotti .

Now keep the oil for heating, to deep fry.

Take a small amount of dough (just small as gulab jamun balls) place it on the greased baking sheets or plastic paper, and pat it with the palm to make circle shape (don’t use fingers)

It should be thin, not thick.

Once the oil is hot enough, gently out the poori, press it gently on the top so that it helps to poori puff up.

Fry the poori’s untill it turns golden brown on both the sides.

Serve hot will coconut chutney or peanut chutney.
