Daal

Yaay.. !! It’s raining here from morning 😊

Rainy days are always my favourite, why because in rainy season I eat so much of hot and spicy food. And today my lunch menu is daal chawal .

It’s not a simple daal with some seasoning. I add many ingredients to get that amazing taste.

Let’s start ..

Ingredients

  1. Toor Daal/pigeon peas one cup
  2. Onions finely chopped one
  3. Tomato finely chopped one
  4. Green chillies finely chopped 4
  5. Cumin seeds 1tsp
  6. 4 Curry leaves
  7. Half tsp ginger garlic paste
  8. Half tsp garam masala
  9. Half tsp coriander powder
  10. Half tsp red chilli powder (optional)
  11. Half tsp kasturi methi
  12. Half tsp turmeric powder
  13. Half tsp cumin powder
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Water 2 and half glass
  16. Oil 3tsp
  17. Coriander leaves chopped 1tsp

Method

First in pressure cooker add daal with 2 glass of water and cook nicely

In a kadai add oil once it’s heated, add cumin seeds, curry leaves once it’s colour changes, add onion chopped and ginger garlic paste, once it’s turn little brown in colour add tomato chopped and salt. Allow it to cook nicely till it gets soft.

Then add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder fry nicely.

Then add cooked daal and mix nicely. Then add another one glass of water once it’s started boiling add garam masala.

Allow it to cook for more 5min. Then add kasthuri methi by crushing it in your palms.

Switch off the flame and add chopped coriander leaves. Give one last mix and close the lit. Don’t open for 5min .

Then your yummy aromatic daal is ready.
