Halbai is an amazing sweet that prepared at our south Canara(malnad side) during Nagara panchami, its very tasty when we consumed with ghee.
Halbai can prepare with rice, semolina, wheat and even with finger millet. My mom always prepare with rice. But today I’m sharing halbai with chiroti rava/ fine semolina.
It’s very easy to make yet different taste to eat and it will be done within few ingredients.
- Chiroti rava/fine rava 1cup
- Half cup fresh coconut shredded
- Jaggery 1cup
- 2 to 3 cardamom pods
- Water 200ml
- Ghee 8tsp
Soak chiroti rava for 30min, then in mixer grinder add soaked chiroti rava with water , Coconut, cardamom powder and jaggery grind untill it’s fine paste.
Now heat a heavy bottom pan/non stick pan add the paste with 1tsp of ghee, and keep stirring.
After 5min it started forming like a mass of ball, now again add 2tsp of ghee then keep stirring untill it starts leaving the sides of the pan.
Grease the plate with ghee and pour the mixture then spread evenly. Let it cool completely.
Cut into desired shapes and decorate with almonds or pistachio.
It can be refrigerate for 4 to 5 days.
